What is Reiki?

Reiki is a spiritual healing art founded in the early 20th century by Dr. Miako Usui. It is a form of energy healing that has been known to help alleviate physical, mental and spiritual stress. It is a way to tune up your energy to its healthiest state allowing for healing to take place.

During a Reiki session a practitioner places his/her hands on or just above a person (Client's preference) with the intention of the Reiki energy to flow. The Reiki energy, also known as Universal Life Force energy, is not the practitioner’s energy. It is divinely guided energy that knows exactly where the blocks are and pushes them out as well as fills up where you are low on energy.

It should NEVER be used in place of a Physician or medication but works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.

What to Expect and How to Prepare

You will want to eat a light meal and hydrate with water a few hours before.

While receiving treatment, you will be laying down (fully clothed) for your session. You will want to wear comfortable clothes and socks if your feet get cold. I do have a blanket to place over you if you need. I incorporate lavender essential oil for a deeper relaxation and place crystal on your energy centers.

When a Reiki practitioner places their hands on or above a client’s fully clothed body, the energy will flow through the practitioner into the client receiving the treatment. The energy may be felt as hot, cold, vibration, tingling, a heaviness or no sensation at all. It is important after the session to drink lots of water and to eat a light meal. Sometimes with a lot of healing modalities you may feel off the next day physically, emotionally or both. It helps to drink a lot of water to flush out lower, heavy energies.

The number of times a session is needed varies by individual.

A sense of calm or balance, increased energy level, increased mental clarity, emotional healing and stability, cleaning and balancing of chakras, improved sleep, can provide relief from chronic pain, boosts and strengthens immune system, helps to deal with suppressed or blocked emotions system, compliments and supports conservative medical treatment, can help with depression and reduces stress, tension, anxiety and general emotional stress.

Each individual responds uniquely so there are no set protocols for frequency of treatment. Reiki energy healing has been known to relieve pain and acute symptoms rapidly, while chronic problems may require more extensive sessions. Length of treatment depends on the root cause of the problems and the amount of energy needed to bring the problem area of the body back into balance.
